Rosette stitch

Take a vertical stitch, but do not pull the needle through. Loop the thread around each end of the needle in a circle. Add more wraps lying next to, not on top of, each other until the stitch is the size you desire. To finish, insert a pin at the top of the stitch, pull the needle through and take the thread through to the back. Bring the needle to the front inside the last wrap, next to the pin. To finish, make a short stitch over the last wrap.
